Beyond Addiction: The Success Stories of Our Recovery Ambassadors

We asked our alumni to share their recovery stories and empower others to seek treatment for addiction and mental health.

Admitting you have an alcohol addiction can be difficult. How did our alumni know they needed help?

Realizing the need for help is the first step to overcoming addiction.
Our recovery ambassadors decided to embark on their own healing journeys. It’s time to start yours.

“I recognized that my addiction was out of control when it started interfering with my job, my social life, and my personal life.”

“I realized when I didn’t want to die but I didn’t want to live anymore. Not the life I was living anyway.”

“When my life became unmanageable.”

We have helped over 60,000 people get their lives back from addiction. You can too.

Recovery Can Feel Impossible. Here is what our Recovery Ambassadors Want to Tell You.

In the face of challenges, our alumni speak to future patients, offering hope and inspiration to those struggling on their own recovery journey.

“Give yourself permission to meet yourself where you’re at, to be honest with yourself that you need more help than you’ve been able to provide. If you’ve made it this far, you no doubt have exceptional strength and courage. Take it one step further and allow the support and love of others to take you the rest of the way.”

– Ryan Baxter, Recovery Ambassador TRV Ridgefield

“I cannot emphasize enough how influential and inspirational the staff at RVR were during my time there. Treatment is not pretty, easy, or comfortable in any way. Being surrounded by staff who are building you up and rooting for your success on a daily basis, in addition to the clinicians’ varying perspectives on what recovery can look like, is unbelievably empowering.”

– Grace LaFortune, Recovery Ambassador TRV Ridgefield

“If you think you need help, you probably do. Even if it doesn’t involve full inpatient treatment, get help. If you think that you don’t have the time or have too many obligations, guess what? Nothing is as important as getting the help that you need to have a brighter future. All those obligations are meaningless if you can’t cope with everyday life.”

– Dylan Zabriskie, Recovery Ambassador TRV Ridgefield

I will say that my experience and what I was able to take from RVR, I have never been able to find in a meeting. That is my own experience. I would encourage anyone who wakes up every day feeling sick, whose job, marriage, family, or mental health is at stake, to seek treatment.

What Will Matter In Your Recovery

Our alumni realize that getting help from professionals and forming connections with fellow individuals in recovery made a positive difference in their ability to prevent relapse effectively.

Professional Support

Every single member of the staff is dedicated to your well-being and recovery. The structure, knowledge and tools, as well, were crucially more helpful than I ever expected them to be. The entire program and all those that support it made RVR a better experience than I could’ve ever imagined going into it.”

– Ryan Baxter, Recovery Ambassador TRV Ridgefield

Relapse Prevention

Overall, all of the staff and faculty at one point or another helped me in my recovery, gave me a piece of advice that pops up into my head when I consider relapse, or genuinely showed their love, support & encouragement to me.

– Grace LaFortune, Recovery Ambassador TRV Ridgefield

Focus on Mental Health

The process of digging into the mental side of recovery is what helped me the most. My clinician Lindsay and the entire staff helped guide me in the right direction.”

– Dylan Zabriskie, Recovery Ambassador TRV Ridgefield

Building Habits

I’m still making strides every single day, but I am already working. Have a great routine going. I love myself, and feel like there isn’t anything I can’t do!”
